💡☀️ New Solar Street Lights Installed in Wedgwood East! 🌙🚶
Wedgwood East is shining a little brighter! The City of Fort Worth has installed new off-grid solar streetlights throughout our neighborhood as part of a citywide initiative to improve safety, visibility, and pedestrian access in neighborhoods across Fort Worth.
More than 3,400 solar-powered streetlights are being installed across 30 neighborhoods through a $12 million federally funded project in partnership with Fort Worth-based Fonroche Lighting America.
These new solar lights offer several benefits for our community:
🌿 Sustainable, zero-energy lighting
🚶 Improved visibility in pedestrian areas
🌙 Dark sky compliant fixtures
⚡ No underground trenching or electrical connections needed
🌧️ Reliable lighting even during severe weather and power outages
The City selected neighborhoods based on factors including older lighting infrastructure, proximity to schools and pedestrian zones, and neighborhood equity improvements.
We’re excited to see these upgrades helping make Wedgwood East safer, brighter, and more connected for residents and visitors alike!
If you would like to request a new streetlight or report an issue with an existing one, you can visit the City of Fort Worth Transportation & Public Works Street Light Services page for more information.
