Egrets and herons have been trying to nest in Wedgwood and Candleridge.
Last year birds filled trees on streets in Wedgwood and Candleridge damaging property and bringing diseases with them.
To prevent them from nesting, if you see birds, make lots of noise! Do not let them land in your trees! The birds are protected by federal law so you can not hurt or kill any egrets or herons. You can only use noise and bird deterring ornaments in your trees. Make lots of noise! Once one egg has been laid, you must stop all deterrents. You cannot harm an egg. It is a federal offense to harm or kill any of these birds or eggs.
FYI, the city uses air cannons and bird bangers that can sound like gun shots. Try to verify the sound before calling the police.
